Quick Question: HIT Screens

Our quick question of June 23-27 asked how each of us is screening for heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). All seven respondents chose the GTI ELISA PF4/IgG/A/M kit. None chose heparin induced platelet aggregometry, serotonin release assay, or another GTI ELISA kit besides GTI.

The issue of HIT testing was featured in Precision BioLogic’s June 19-20 roundtable, and Dr. Marisa Marques of the University of Alabama at Birmingham described data she has collected comparing the various methods. Her presentation provoked a lively debate, and will be featured as a guest blog next week. Geo
