Diagnosis of Pulmonary Embolism
with d-Dimer Adjusted to Clinical Probability. NEJM 2019;381:2125–34. Applying the Wells score, the investigators showed in outpatients with a low clinical pretest probability and a D-dimer level of less than 1000 ng/mL FEU or with a moderate clinical pretest probability and a D-dimer level of less than 500 ng/mL the D-dimer result alone ruled out thrombosis without the need for imaging studies.
