Do Not Use Heat Blocks

Here is an important follow-up message from Lisa Reid-Fifoot at Precision about heat blocks:

Hi George, I was reading the question from Kim Kinney regarding the use of a water bath or a heating block to thaw frozen coag samples and I wanted to share some information. Precision BioLogic strongly discourages the use of a heating block. We have had many occasions where our products have become compromised by the slow thaw of a heating block. All PBI direction inserts state “The use of a dry bath or heating block for thawing is not recommended.” I believe the slow thaw allows the inner plasma to stay frozen too long and the outer plasma is exposed to heat too long.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Lisa Reid-Fifoot
