Dr. Larry Brace of Edward Hospital in Naperville sent me a note reporting that Jane Lenahan, one of our long-time hemostasis heroes, has passed away. Most of us who are “of a certain age” grew up on Jane’s book, Hemostasis. Click here to read her obituary, which seems modest for such a giant in our field.

IL Splits from Beckman-Coulter Effective 6/22/2012

Instrumentation Laboratory, part of the Werfen group, today announced it will terminate its hemostasis business relationship with Beckman-Coulter, Inc., effective June 22, 2012, and will initiate direct sales and service on June 23. The European Medicines Agency Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use now recommends rivaroxaban for prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation and for treatment of venous thromboembolism, as reported by The Heart.org.
