IL Liquid Heparin Kit

From Kim Kinney at Clarian:

George,
We are excited about the all-liquid IL heparin kit. We have heard that it is now available. We are still running heparins on an MDA using the Stago kit. We make our own calibrators and QC from pharmacy heparin–a ton of work and not very stable. How do other institutions report “normal” or no heparin samples? We currently report (message was truncated at this point).

We also used the Stago Rotachrom anti-Xa assay for LMWH and also found stability issues. When we switched to Beckman-IL we continued to use Stago calibrators for QC. The Stago calibrators compare very well to pharmacy Lovenox and the QC is stable and freezable.
We report ‘no heparin’ samples as 0 U/ml and reference the therapeutic ranges at 3 hours post dose.
