World Thrombosis Day Campaign: Note From Samantha Nelson, WTD Manager

Dear George,

The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) World Thrombosis Day (WTD) campaign is in its 12th year, and together with The Fritsma Factor, Your Interactive Hemostasis Resource, we have been working to build awareness around a critical reality: 1 in 4 people worldwide die each year from conditions related to thrombosis. This year, our focus is on prevention and patient empowerment, and we’re excited to share updates to support your awareness campaign.

  • Organized resources: The campaign downloadable resource page has been organized to help you find exactly what you need to raise awareness. Our materials include Canva links, allowing you to add your own logo or translate the designs. View the new resources here.
  • New educational materials: We’ve redesigned and translated new fact sheets to help educate patients about their conditions. There are also new posters, translated social media graphics and other tools to make your advocacy efforts easier. View the new materials here.
  • Updated Design Hub: The WTD Design Hub has been updated, making it easy to create custom social media posts, posters and profile badges.

We also invite you to participate in the Head-to-Toe Challenge to demonstrate that blood clots can occur throughout the body. To participate, create and share a short video to the children’s song “Head, shoulders, knees and toes” and sign the online VTE Awareness Pledge to prevent thrombosis and protect your health.

We’re eager to support your initiatives in every way possible. Our campaign team is ready to amplify your voice through our social media channels and website. To maximize your event’s reach, we encourage you to submit your WTD planned activities on our website. This allows us to provide promotional support and ensure your efforts receive the attention they deserve.

Our team is here to assist you every step of the way. Whether you need guidance, resources or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re committed to making your thrombosis awareness activities as impactful as possible. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions or support needs.

By sharing your events, activities and photographs with us, you’re contributing to a global movement of thrombosis awareness. Let’s work together to make this World Thrombosis Day 2025 memorable.

We look forward to supporting your efforts.

Kindly,

Sam Nelson
